Getting to Milna

Milna lies on the Western tip of the island of Braè just off mainland Croatia and Split. It is approximately 20 km, a 25 minute drive from the island’s main harbour, Supetar. There are a number of ways for you to travel to Braè and Milna.

It is easiest to fly to Split. Ferries to Supetar leave frequently from the main ferry harbour in the centre of Split and are not expensive. From Supetar it is a pleasant 20km drive to Milna. Local buses are available from the bus station next to the ferry terminal and you are dropped off in the centre of Milna, a short walk from the house.

A footpassenger catamaran service also runs on Fridays and Sundays from Split directly to Milna harbour. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes.

An alternative if coming by air is to fly to Trieste in Italy with Ryanair and then drive down to Split. A new inland motorway in Croatia has made this a much quicker journey although it still takes approximately 7 hours to make the journey. An overnight stop along the way is recommended. In nice weather the journey along the coast road is spectacular.

The overnight ferry from Ancona to Split is another useful option for visitors from Italy.

Although a car is not essential it can be useful for exploring the island and for venturing to other towns near Split. We have always used Holiday Autos for car hire and have never had a problem. Cars can be collected from the airport in Split or Trieste.
If coming from Trieste, check that you can drive the car into Croatia. Some companies do not allow this.
